Success
I've been thinking about successful people recently. The common attributes that the successful people I know seem to share are:
1. Persistence
2. Charisma
3. Vision
By vision, I mean that they are dreamers, building castles in the sky before they have poured the foundation's cement.

Add:
- support (friends, spouse)
- an above-average IQ (not: a high IQ, which might turn out a hindrance)
- luck/hashgoche protes
- coincidences including, still, social upbringing, "race" and the like.
Charisma and vision are disputable, in my opinion. Many people are highly successful in all kinds of areas without having any visions, and even more visionaries are complete failures who don't ever get noted.
Charisma is often really a high self-confidence, not necessarily unfounded.
Neither of us mentioned something like excellence.
Thank you for adding bloglet to your blog. I was wondering if the thing would really work, it had been so long without a post (hint) since I signed up.
Thought provoking piece on success.
Lou, you're welcome.
- A desire to succeed. Perhaps that falls under "persistence."
Sorry that this might sound cynical; it's certainly not meant to be, rather the outcome of observation as well as actual studies by sociologists.
Anyway, add:
- a certain ruthlessness
- being male
Lipman - although undoubtedly, most "successful" people in the business world are male, there are two things you should consider.
1 - A person does not have to be male in order to succeed, although they are more likely to succeed if they are male.
2 - There are many men and women who lead successful lives, having nothing to do with the bottom line or business.
Defen,
absolutely, and boruch hashem so.
Probaly social skills and street smarts are the from the most important means to success though the term success is very relitive and subjective.
please find a way to republish your xml feed. the current error message is very annoying. Also for a blog like yours which is updated very infrequently It is even more important.
Anonymous, I'm not sure what you mean. I don't have an XML feed. I do have Bloglet, and as far as I can tell it is working. Please let me know.
I signed up for it and never got the update email for your latest post... Something seems wrong.
